Meet Genesis
Genesis is a fourth-year undergraduate student at Coastal Carolina University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology with a double concentration in behavioral neuroscience and forensics, along with a minor in biology. Currently, she is participating in a summer internship in the BRAIN Lab as an undergraduate research assistant through the Amgen Scholars program.
In the lab, she is contributing to a project focused on testing the reliability of inflammatory biomarkers in different populations. Her research interests surround precision medicine and genetics, particularly in relation to neuropsychiatric disorders. She is interested in identifying genes associated with brain disorders such as schizophrenia, depression, and substance use disorders, as well as exploring non-invasive methods for delivering gene therapy to the brain. She plans to pursue a doctorate degree in clinical psychology or genetics.
Outside of the lab, Genesis enjoys watching movies, playing video games, and spending time with her friends and family.
